Festspielhaus Bregenz offers clients a new projection screen

The Werkstattbühne, an innovative theatre space, in the Festspielhaus Bregenz possesses a brand-new screen. Measuring 14 by 4.1 metres, it has a total area of approximately 57 square metres. Specially produced for Kongresskultur Bregenz, the screen not only has a more modern look – it also offers greater creative freedom, for instance the possibility of projections on multiple projectors, image-in-image and double projections.

The exciting new visual possibilities are a consequence of the screen’s special construction. The canvas is wrapped round the rear of the screen’s frame, meaning that a black edge to the projection screen can be avoided. And being installed half a metre in front of the rear wall of the stage, the giant screen seems to be floating, suspended in space.

The big screen has been in use at the Werkstattbühne since October 2019. Given its dimensions it can used in a variety of ways – with projections in full size or shrunk to the format 16:9, or completely covered, depending on the clients’ individual wishes.
