Acacia and velvet

The Großer Saal (great hall), combining dark acacia wood with red upholstered seating, exudes a warm, inviting atmosphere. Boasting one of the largest revolving stages in Europe and equipped with the full range of facilities for theatre, concerts and opera, the auditorium is a popular venue for cultural events.

During the summer months, the Bregenz Festival thrills audiences from all over the world with outstanding opera productions and orchestral concerts that are staged in the Großer Saal. Outside the festival season, the venue is used by numerous event organisers for shows, concerts and musicals, but above all for congresses, conferences and corporate events. With classic row-seating, the Großer Saal can accommodate 1,656 participants in the raked auditorium, or around 480 if the organiser opts for parliament-style seating (excluding the circle).

The Festspielhaus Bregenz stands for hi-tech stagecraft and innovative event design, and events in the Großer Saal prove to be particularly impressive. The combination of the main stage, apron stage, backstage area, and side stages with the auditorium makes every event a special experience. That’s because there’s no more inspiring place to meet or celebrate than on the theatre stage.

The adjoining foyer offers plenty of space for accompanying exhibitions and networking in a relaxed atmosphere. In addition, the nearby breakout rooms make it possible to organise parallel sessions or work in small groups.

BARRIER-FREE

WIRELESS DEVICE FOR VISITORS WITH IMPAIRED HEARING

The receiver, which is about the size of a playing card, is worn on the body and visitors operate it individually by means the on/off switch and the volume regulator. Reception is possible in the stalls and the gallery of the Großer Saal and throughout the foyer area. Selective warning calls, public notices, and the bells that signal the end of intermission are also transmitted.

VISITORS WITH IMPAIRED MOBILITY, WHEELCHAIR USERS

All venues inside the Festspielhaus are easily accessible using our lifts. The auditorium of the Großer Saal has space for six wheelchairs. If advance notice is given and if the modifiable stage permits, the number of spaces for wheelchair users can be increased to up to 20. Please contact the Festspielhaus.

VISITOR GUIDANCE SYSTEM FOR VISUALLY IMPAIRED PEOPLE

In all areas open to visitors, there is signage on handrails and in lifts for the benefit of the partially sighted. Textured flooring guides these visitors safely through the Festspielhaus to the barrier-free event rooms.
