EVENTS THAT REALLY WORK, THANKS TO MICELAB:BODENSEE

What makes a really good event? This is a question that we constantly ask ourselves. That is why, for many years, we have been closely involved in the research network micelab:bodensee. Together with industry colleagues from the Lake Constance region, we are driving developments in the MICE industry (Meeting, Incentive, Congress, Event). We test new event formats and explore specialisations such as interior design, event psychology, learning methodology and much more besides. Our aim is to enable participants at conferences and meetings to have meaningful encounters and interactions on an equal footing – and to make your event a success. We have the expertise. You have us.

Endless lectures, passive participants and no room for interaction. Would you like to change that? Then you've come to the right place. We have been committed to the art of hosting for many years and are involved in the micelab:bodensee learning and research network. “We” here means eleven event centres and convention bureaus around Lake Constance that are united by one goal: to host truly engaging meetings that people enjoy and benefit from long-term. So, if you share our passion for innovative events, our team is the right choice for you. Our staff are specialists in this field and know just what ingredients are needed.

EXPERTS IN ENGAGING EVENTS

In micelab:bodensee, we focus on people and the factors that influence them at conferences, meetings and other events. To this end, we conduct research with specialists from various fields: architecture, interior design, event psychology, brain research, coaching, resonance research, nature education, sociology and many more. What we’ve learnt we then test together with our industry colleagues in our own training modules. In this way, our expertise continues to grow. And new settings, formats and methods are incorporated into both our consulting services and our own work in companies.

"Many participants are frustrated by frontal teaching, zero-sum claptrap, PowerPoint drilling, row seating, and keynote gobbledygook. Congresses are microcosms that mirror our society. The Facebook generation is thirsty for participation, involvement, innovative styles and forms of play. The knowledge-based society needs places for creative learning. After all, a globalised economy demands the networking of diverse perspectives and different cultures. "

NEEDS VARY

Something we have experienced many times is that the needs of people attending MICE events are as diverse as the people themselves. But what they have in common is that they want to feel welcome and comfortable, be noticed and – depending on their mood – actively participate in the event. They want to enjoy learning and not just sit still, but move around and engage with speakers and other participants on an equal footing. Breaks are important for them, too – for recharging their batteries, reflecting on what they have heard, or simply checking their messages.

WE ASK THE RIGHT QUESTIONS

We work with you to determine what needs you and your participants have and what goals you want to achieve with your event. We assist you in defining the right framework conditions for your event and your target group. Great rooms and modern technology are the basis. The added value is provided by our trained staff. They will ask you the right questions, find customised solutions and, if necessary, bring you together with partners from our large network who will make your event the highlight of the year.

"There’s no end of formats, approaches and methods with great names. Ultimately, however, they only have an ancillary function. Formats are like film music. They have an effect without being consciously recognised. They support, but are not the subject themselves. "

AWARDED FOR INNOVATION

micelab:bodensee has itself been certified innovative, winning the international Bodensee17 Innovation Award in 2017 and the "tourismus innovationen" main prize at the 2018 Vorarlberg Tourism Forum. A learning and research network, micelab:bodensee is organised by BodenseeMeeting e.V., an association whose members come from the four countries of the Lake Constance region. They have been working together for over 30 years, initially as a network for promoting Lake Constance as a MICE region. Since micelab:bodensee was founded in 2012, the association's main objective has been to drive developments in the MICE industry and to provide further training for employees.
