FAR MORE THAN A CONFERENCE CENTRE
Since it opened in July 1980, the Festspielhaus Bregenz has come to enjoy high esteem in the MICE industry and is particularly well known as the venue for the world-renowned Bregenz Festival. Operated by Kongresskultur Bregenz GmbH, a subsidiary of the municipality of Bregenz, the Festspielhaus stands for meaningful events and special experiences for clients and visitors alike.
It’s not only cultural highlights such as the Bregenz Festival or the Bregenz Spring Festival that find a stage here. Major conferences and events like the World Future Forum (2017), the First Lego League Central Europe (2019) and STAGE Bregenz (2024) also choose the Festspielhaus as their venue. The congress centre attracted particular attention when it was used in the filming of the James Bond movie Quantum of Solace in 2008.
A FEAST FOR THE EYES AND THE PALATE
The Festspielhaus Bregenz was completely renovated in 2006, then modernised and extended in 2023/24 according to plans by the internationally active architectural firm Dietrich & Untertrifaller. The building’s impressive modern architecture is not only an eye-catcher typical of Vorarlberg. The bright, spacious rooms create an unrivalled atmosphere that offers real added value for event participants. In addition, the congress centre is optimised for conserving resources. This also applies to the in-house catering company, evenTZ by foodaffairs, which uses the best seasonal and regional ingredients and has been awarded the AMA Gastro Seal and the Austrian Ecolabel. Your event will therefore remain at the highest level in terms of cuisine, too.
The Festspielhaus Bregenz is one of the top three event centres in the world. This is documented by the award from the International Association of Congress Centres (AIPC) – the fifth time it has made it onto the podium, which incidentally is solely thanks to client reviews.

No two events are the same. It's a good thing that the Festspielhaus Bregenz has such a strong hand in all departments – event spaces, technology, and service provision. The Festspielhaus Bregenz has its own workshop with a metalworking shop, carpentry shop, decor and scene painting, props, stage design, and costume department – including specialists in all these areas. Their expertise is on display every summer for visitors to the Bregenz Festival and during the year, too, at various events in the Festspielhaus. You can benefit from this, whether it’s a Christmas party, art exhibition, conference or gala reception that you’re planning. For special requests that go beyond these resources, we make use of a large network of external partners. Our services are offered as a modular system.
GOOD MEETINGS AT THE FESTSPIELHAUS BREGENZ
We see the Festspielhaus not only as an event centre, but also as an innovative platform for the transfer of knowledge, innovation and creativity. Here, people are not just participants in a congress, trade fair or meeting, but should share ideas and benefit from meaningful events over the long term. As part of the micelab:bodensee research and further education network, eleven event venues and convention associations in the four-country region of Lake Constance are working on how to create engaging and meaningful events. We have been passionately and formatively involved in micelab:bodensee since it was founded in 2013.
GOING GREEN
Speaking of sustainability, being environmentally friendly is profoundly important to us and we have been setting a good, indeed an award-winning example. The two Austrian eco-labels Green Meetings and Green Event as well as Green Location, the Meeting Experts Green Award and the ÖKOPROFIT certificate are the outward proof of what is for us an inner conviction.
This expertise and this ambition also benefit clients. As a licence holder, we are allowed to certify events as Green Meetings and Green Events. We support you in implementing the necessary measures and are happy to give you tips for additional steps. For example, tickets for events at the Festspielhaus Bregenz can be used to travel on public transport. Bregenz is incidentally an energy-efficient municipality that is committed to saving energy and protecting the climate and regularly has its performance audited.
